Departments

At Ava R-I Schools, our departments work collaboratively to support students, staff, and families. From classroom instruction to student wellness and safety, each area plays a vital role in helping us fulfill our mission to prepare each student for a successful future.

Explore our departments  to learn more about the services and supports we offer:

  • Athletic & Activities Director – Oversees aspects of Ava R-I School’s athletic programs, extracurricular and co-curricular programs, ensuring student engagement, safety, and alignment with school policies.

  • Buildings, Grounds, & Maintenance – Responsible for keeping Ava R‑I School’s buildings and grounds in excellent condition to ensure safe, clean, and efficient use of all district facilities. This role collaborates closely with staff and administration to support smooth daily operations.

  • Central Office – Administrative hub of the Ava R-I School’s district, responsible for implementing the policies and directives of the school board, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations, and overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Ava R-I School. Supports and develops the people who make the district thrive.

  • Food Services – Responsible for overseeing the district's food service program to ensure that meals are nutritious, safe, and compliant with federal, state, and local regulations, while also managing budgets, staffing, 

  • Health Services – Coordinate and deliver health programs to students, serve as the health resource for students and staff, and promote wellness across the school community. 

  • Special Services – Administrate the Ava R-I District’s special education and related student support programs, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local laws while providing equitable access to high-quality educational opportunities for students with diverse needs.

  • Technology – Responsible for planning, running, and maintaining the school’s technology systems, keeping them secure, and helping staff and students use technology effectively.

  • Transportation – Responsible for providing safe, efficient, and compliant student transportation services within the district. This includes managing bus operations, vehicle maintenance, and driver assignments.
